An unknown informant hacks into the television networks and tells the unknowing world of the impending "Occurrence". This public knowledge leads to the government creating a random lottery to identify the few who will have a chance to live by leaving the planet. Those not chosen to leave are branded by three markings across their left eye for easy identification at road blocks and transport entrances.
